The pivitol figure here is Henry Trefflich. He was born in 1908 in Hamburg, Germany. He emigrated to the USA and settled in the New York area. He married Alberta Esther Stetin. They have four chilren, a number of grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He operated an animal business in New York City by which he imported many different animals from Africa, Asia and South America, and sold them to circuses, zoos, and various scientific institutions (including, but not limited to NASA and the Salk laboratories).
